FINDING A SUPERVISOR & PROJECT

The Hanson Institute is the research arm of the Royal Adelaide Hospital and the IMVS and operates in close collaboration with the University of Adelaide. The Institute hosts more than 350 research scientists and approximately 100 postgraduate students who conduct their laboratory studies in these laboratories. It is South Australia's premier medical research Institute and is recognised as one of Australia's top five medical research facilities. This ranking is based on the number of NHMRC Project research grants awarded and the number of excellent quality research publications produced.

Our research expertise extends from cancer to bone and joint diseases, neurological diseases, cardiology, nutrition and gut disorders to infectious diseases. The strength of our research is not only its international quality but its focus on improving clinical outcomes and translation of basic scientific discoveries to improving clinical practice.

Hanson Institute researchers are members or affiliates of the University of Adelaide and directly supervise higher degree students. In research areas of your interest directly contacting researchers (email is a good first step) to discuss a higher degree in their laboratory.

A comprehensive booklet of postgraduate research opportunities for PhD, Masters and Honours students in the School of Medicine is available at:
